This is the heartbeat of contemporary AI. Data folds into a dense internal landscape¹ where words cluster dynamically in a rhythm that simulates understanding.
The models are creating “meaning” by unfolding concepts, connecting patterns, and inferring physical laws. Yet their pathways remain opaque, hiding internal turbulence.²
This piece explores a model’s internal world. Evidence of the past and future, physical and digital material, and natural and immaterial landscapes sit side by side, folded into a single surface. Classical paintings, early computer interfaces, vector grids, and digital remnants are compressed into collages, the visual equivalent of a model synthesizing meaning from incompatible sources.
Rather than producing a fixed composition, the poster generator exposes this process. It continuously folds in a shared collection of visual fragments, their places determined by probability, spatial relationships, and chance.
As these systems recombine and unfold human history, can they generate new forms of meaning, or only echo our understanding of the world?
