7 Minutes in Heaven

7 minutes in heaven (named after the teenage party kissing game) is a web experience that allows just two people to be with each other. If someone joins you in heaven, you’ll be able to interact for seven minutes only by moving around your cursor.

I want this website to be antithetical to the ways we’re increasingly used to connecting together online. As I’ve gotten older, online interactions become more overstimulating, outcome-oriented, or transactional. I yearn for the imagined simplicity and intimacy of an earlier internet the way I yearn for an imaginary teenage past (I never played 7 minutes in heaven as a teenager).

Sometimes I can feel shame around imagining, idealizing, fantasizing. It’s not rational or pragmatic; a crush is just a lack of information. But I am curious about the type of play that can only happen because we have to leave more to the imagination. Maybe there is a certain magic in projecting; maybe there can be a certain clarity in childlike naivety.
To play, enter heaven and wait for someone else–or ask someone special to join you at this link: https://7minutesinheaven.jackieis.online/
